Bua PT — Privacy Policy

Bua PT ("the app", "we", "us") is a personal training and nutrition app operated by Niall O'Connell. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, used to create and manage your account.
• Consultation and profile information: answers you provide during the consultation (such as your goals, training experience, dietary preferences, and schedule) used to generate your personalised program and meal plan.
• Health and fitness information: body weight, measurements, workout logs, meal logs, step counts, and weekly check-in responses that you record in the app.
• Health app data (optional): if you choose to connect Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS or Health Connect on Android, we read your step count so your daily targets and weekly check-in reflect your actual activity. This connection is entirely optional, is never enabled without your explicit permission, and can be revoked at any time in your device's Health settings. We only ever read this data - we never write to Apple Health or Health Connect.
• Photos: progress photos you choose to upload. These are stored privately and are visible only to you, unless you explicitly choose to share a photo to the in-app transformation feed.
• Purchase information: subscription status and purchase history, processed through Apple App Store or Google Play and our subscription provider RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details.
• Device and usage information: basic technical information needed to operate the app reliably.

How we use your information

• To create and deliver your personalised training program and meal plan.
• To provide weekly coaching feedback. Check-in data may be processed by an AI service (Anthropic) to generate coaching responses.
• To track your progress over time and display it back to you.
• To manage your subscription and provide access to paid features.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Health app data

Where you have connected Apple Health or Health Connect, we want to be specific about what happens to that data:

• We read step count only. We request no other health data types.
• It is used solely to show your progress in the app and to inform your coaching feedback and daily targets.
• It is stored in your own account in our database (Supabase) alongside the activity you log manually.
• We do not use health data for advertising or marketing, and we do not sell it or share it with data brokers.
• We do not share health data with any third party for their own purposes. It is processed only by the service providers listed below, acting on our behalf to run the app.
• Disconnecting is immediate: revoke access in Apple Health or Health Connect and we stop reading new data. Previously synced figures remain in your account until you delete it (see "Data retention and deletion").

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to run the app. Your data is shared with them only as needed to provide the service:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (our backend).
• RevenueCat — subscription management.
• Anthropic — AI processing used to generate coaching feedback.
• Apple / Google — payment processing and app distribution.

Transformation feed

If you choose to share a transformation post, the photos and content you share become visible to other users of the app. Sharing is always optional and initiated by you. Posts can be reported by other users and may be hidden following reports. You can delete your posts at any time.

Data security

Your data is encrypted in transit. Progress photos are stored in private storage and accessed through time-limited signed links.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Upon a verified request we will delete your personal data, subject to any records we are legally required to retain.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and Australian privacy law), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

Children

Bua PT is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
